The Horizonte hotel in Palma was a well located hotel with beautiful views, and a clean well serviced swimming area. The staff were pleasant and had a sense of humour. Unfortunately my 2 rooms ordered were not available, and we were put into a room for 4 people no problems. Unfortunately the air con didn't work so without question we were put into a 3 bedded room which also had a sitting area. We were treated very well and given the choice of rooms before having to move. Although our first night was a little noisy and hot as we had windows open and no air con. and we had to repack and unpack on our second day, I have nothing but praise for the hotel staff.
Both rooms were clean and you have to remember that it is only 2* so do not expect 4* accomodation.Rooms were cleaned daily, fresh towels, and beds made. I would certainly go back. Food - Breakfast is plentiful if a little ordinary. But enough to fill you up. Evening meal is bog standard fare, but ok if you do not want to bother going out.

The hotel is on a hill, but locate the steps up and down and the climb is easier. Turn left out of the hotel and in 200 yards is a little shop on right for basics, then round the bend a further half mile or so are steps on the left down to the sea level. The walk into Palma is pleasant in the evening. We walked in, and got a 7 Euro taxi back. Veintiocho italian restaurant is good and half way to Palma. We also went into the old town and there are some brilliant tapas bars there. Check out an old fashioned double arched wooden door. Inside is unbelievable - fruits, flowers, exotic birds - buy ice creams, cocktails etc but beware 15 euros per drink. It is worth it for the experience. Beaches - took a 10 euro taxi to Illetes - very pretty and unspoilt with shops above beach in the little village. Then took a 1 euro 30 bus ride home!!! Useful to speak some Spanish as the taxi drivers are a great source of info and very friendly.

These comments all apply to Room 244 which we were sent to - workmen working machinery outside - balcony and furniture covered in dust. Complained and was moved to another room. Should not have sent to room 244 in the first place.

Hotel a bit shabby, although fresh painting was taking place in parts. Magnificent views across Palma bay towards the Cathedral from the pool area - and also from our room as it happened. Quite a way from Palma centre, but near bus stop (no, 46), so you could get into Palma centre cheaply (1.10 euro each way). We also walked along the palm-lined promenade, this took about 40 minutes, but we were stopping to look at the fantastic yachts in the marina along the way.

Go to Abaco bar, a VERY stylish bar in the old part of Palma. It's quite difficult to find, so be prepared to ask the locals or at the Information Centres that are dotted around. When you go inside there are magnificent flower displays and fresh fruit cascading everywhere - not to mention the beautiful chandilliers and oil paintings. Drinks are expensive, but that's only to be expected in a place like this. We asked for one cockatil (it was MASSIVE- and delicious) and 3 straws. At just 15 euros it was well worth it. So we had another one...

Excellent value hotel, family friendly, a good base for Palma. Although the hotel is family friendly, bear in mind it is located on a hill if using buggies, pushachairs, etc.

Hotel was ok, located at the top of a very steep hill. Breakfast was average but adequate. No Tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Our room had a spectacular view overlooking the harbour, and from the viewing area by the pool you can see all the way to Palma Cathedral.

Definitely recommend hiring a car to get to this hotel. Very hilly area, although there were taxi's located just across the road and also a bus stop. No shops around the hotel but vending machines in hotel for essentials. Ponti Pi shopping centre worth a visit but the walk back up to the hotel very tiring.
